Full-spread glue-down is the preferred method for engineered hardwood over concrete slabs and radiant heat systems. Adhesive is spread across the entire substrate, locking each board firmly in place with no flex, no movement, and superior sound deadening.
The concrete is ground, leveled, and moisture-tested. Appropriate adhesive is selected based on conditions. Boards are laid into the wet adhesive in sequence with proper spacing. Full cure time is allowed before finishing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose glue-down hardwood over concrete instead of floating LVP?
Glue-down engineered hardwood gives you real wood underfoot - the warmth, sound, and resale value that LVP can't match. It's also more dimensionally stable than floating floors and handles light furniture movement without any hollow or bouncy feel. For a condo or basement with a concrete slab, it's the premium hardwood option.
What adhesive is used for glue-down hardwood?
We use a moisture-blocking urethane adhesive specifically formulated for hardwood over concrete. The product choice depends on the wood species, plank width, and moisture test results from the slab. We never use general-purpose construction adhesive for hardwood - the right product matters for a lasting bond.
Can glue-down hardwood be installed over radiant heat?
Yes, but the wood species and plank width need to be compatible with the heat system. Engineered hardwood is far more stable than solid wood over radiant heat. We verify the floor temperature limits and select a product rated for in-floor heating applications. The system must be broken in gradually after installation.
How long before we can walk on the floor after a glue-down install?
Most urethane adhesives reach initial set in 24 hours, but we recommend keeping traffic off for 48 hours to be safe. Heavy furniture should wait at least 72 hours. Full cure is typically 5-7 days, after which the floor can handle normal loading without any risk of bond failure.
